How Tempting: Armored Saint – Win Hands Down

The return of Armored Saint is one of 2015’s most exciting prospects (along with Paradise Lost’s return if you’re wondering). It’s exciting then to report that the album Win Hands Down now has a release date of 1st June (UK release date) and a promo video of the title track is available too.

It’s great stuff and a welcome taster for the album’s release. John Bush is in his usual impeccable form and it’s a classy track continuing in the style of 2010’s La Raza. It’s confident, atmospheric stuff with some tasty playing and a great sound. If the rest of the album’s this good then it’s going to be an album of the year contender (just like La Raza was 5 years ago). Check it out, let me know what you think. If you like what you hear and haven’t picked up La Raza yet then I strongly suggest you do.

  1. New song is fabulous stuff! I agree with you on ALL counts about Armored Saint. “La Raza” is such a GREAT album! “La Raza” album artwork was ‘classy’ and I dug it. I know where Mike is coming from about the album cover; something in order of “Raising Fear” would have been sweet! 🙂 \m/

      1. Agreed about the “La Raza” design. Plus the outer cardboard sleeve was a nice touch too for “La Raza”. What is funny is I picked up “Raising Fear” on original vinyl, at a thrift store, about 2 years ago. I only paid 50 cents for it. LOL! I will do a post about it, with photos. The record and its jacket are in excellent shape too! 🙂

      2. Holy crap, 50 cents! That’s a great find. Look forward to the post about it. I saw a live one on vinyl a while back in a charity shop but I didn’t pick it up. Wish I had! I think the live one and Raising Fear are the only two I don’t have.

      3. I know… 50 freaking cents! It’s still like that over here, with these thrift shops. These shops don’t know or care… they price dirty dishes for more money than that! LOL! I don’t have their live album either; I believe it’s titled: “Saints Will Conquer”, released in 1988.

      4. LOL! Yeah, don’t be too hard on yourself… I have let MANY finds slip through my hands cuz of second guessing. Now it’s your mission to find it again at a cheap price and nail it as yours! 🙂

    1. What did you think of the new tune Deke? Yeah, I’m totally pumped for this one. Can’t wait! March of the Saint is a cool album (prefer the cover of it too!) but my favorite is probably Symbol of Salvation. That’s an awesome album.

  3. I’m not familiar with Armored Saint, but I dig what I’ve heard so far. I have a soft spot for John Bush; I’ve had some spirited debates about his stint with Anthrax.

  4. Another one that’s new to me … quite like that track, though. I shall investigate La Raza to determine whether I could dig it over the course of an album …

      1. I know folks say this all the time, but sometimes they’re the best albums. The ones you’ve been listening to for ages and then they just hit you out the blue.

  5. I also didn’t know there was new Paradise Lost in the offing; I’m curious to hear what they come up with. Speaking of Paradise Lost, what did you think of Nick Holmes’s lead vocals on the latest Bloodbath album?

  6. Another band that I have heard a bit, need to know more, and here HMO is talking about a new record and I don’t own any of the older stuff. These blogs, I swear. I’m gonna need a second mortgage!
