Today I’m indulging in one of my favourite extreme metal classics: Kreator’s Pleasure To Kill. This 1986 album is obsessed with the various ways one might meet an end (whether it’s death by the blade, an axe in the back or a ripping corpse attack). It’s a masterpiece of thrash but such a raw, violent and bloodthirsty one that it also satisfies a craving for death and black metal. And it’s strewn with absolute classics: unforgettable bangers like the title track, Riot Of Violence and Under The Guillotine. Pleasure To Kill is the kind of bullet-belted lunacy that makes you feel glad to be alive.
That is a horrible band picture. It looks like they went to Olan Mills to get that done.

I think it might have been better if they had went there.

A friend of mine once called this album, “Music to kill your grandmother to.” I’ve never had the inclination to do that, I just appreciate the pure unadulterated thrash.

Hmmm… I was listening to Sodom when I killed my Gran.

I’m passing through Frankfurt airport. I reread your K, PTK post and gave the title track a try. Yeah, it can bring out the heavy metal maniac in me. Great drum rolls and fast aggression. I bet Fenriz, who I think, sported the album art on his jacket at one point, likes the drums. But, the whole band sounds united in fury.
Gotta go. Thanx for the moment.

Yes I’m sure Fenriz would be a fan of the drums here. Good spot. Glad you enjoyed and happy travels!

I like the track you posted, much better than other stuff of theirs I’d heard which was all too treble-y in the production.

Embrace treble in the name of Satan!

In my head then I read ‘Satan’ in a high falsetto.
